Bye Bernie...

I woke up this morning, and the first piece of news to hit me was that Bernie Mac had passed away. AT 50!!! My God, that is too young. I really enjoyed his brand of comedy. He made fun of everyone, including himself. Well, hopefully George Carlin and Bernie can smoke cigars and laugh in heaven..

A Bit of a Mix Up, Ya Think?

Okay, this story is happening in the state of Md. and is in big bold headlines. They raided the mayor's house. He came home, saw a package on his steps, picked it up and walked in his home. Two minutes later, they kicked his front door in and raided his home and shot and killed his two dogs...Unbelievable...The man's wife is home, she is visibly in terror..Here is the story..

BERWYN HEIGHTS, Maryland — A small town mayor whose house was raided and dogs were killed by police appears to be an innocent victim of a drug smuggling scheme, authorities said.

Police kicked in the door and stormed the home of the mayor of Berwyn Heights, Maryland, shooting two black Labradors and seizing an unopened package with 32 pounds of marijuana inside. But the drugs evidently did not belong to him or his wife.

Police say Cheye Calvo and his wife appeared to be victims of a plan by two men to smuggle millions of dollars worth of marijuana by having it delivered to about a half-dozen unsuspecting recipients.

The two men under arrest include a FedEx package deliveryman; investigators said the deliveryman would drop off a package outside a home, and the other man would come by a short time later and pick it up.

A furious Calvo said Thursday that he and his wife, Trinity Tomsic, are asking the U.S. Justice Department to investigate the July 29 raid.

"Trinity was an innocent victim and random victim," Calvo said outside his two-story, red-brick house in this middle-class Washington suburb of about 3,000 people. "We were harmed by the very people who took an oath to protect us."

Calvo insisted the couple's dogs were gentle creatures and said police apparently killed them "for sport," gunning down one of them as it was running away.

"Our dogs were our children," said the 37-year-old Calvo. "They were the reason we bought this house because it had a big yard for them to run in."

The mayor, who was changing his clothes when police burst in, also complained that he was handcuffed in his boxer shorts for about two hours along with his mother-in-law, and said the officers did not believe him when he told them he was the mayor. No charges were brought against Calvo or his wife, who came home in the middle of the raid.

Prince George's County Police Chief Melvin High said Wednesday that Calvo and his family were "most likely ... innocent victims," but he would not rule out their involvement, and he defended the way the raid was conducted. He and other officials did not apologize for killing the dogs, saying the officers felt threatened.

Police announced Wednesday they had arrested two men suspected in a plot to smuggle 417 pounds (189 kilograms) of marijuana, and seized a total of $3.6 million in pot. Investigators said the package that arrived on Calvo's porch had been sent from Los Angeles via FedEx, and they had been tracking it ever since it drew the attention of a drug-sniffing dog in Arizona.

Police intercepted it in Maryland, and an undercover detective posing as a deliveryman took it to the Calvo home.

Calvo's defenders — including the Berwyn Heights police chief, who said his department should have been alerted ahead of time — said police had no right to enter the home without knocking.

But officials insisted they acted within the law, saying the operation was compromised when Calvo's mother-in-law saw officers approaching the house and screamed. That could have given someone time to grab a gun or destroy evidence, authorities said.

Neighbors have rallied around the couple. On Sunday night, supporters gathered on a ballfield to pay tribute to the family and the dogs. A banner on the wooden fence around Calvo's yard read, "Cheye and Trinity, We support you, Friends and Citizens of Berwyn Heights." Around it were dozens of handwritten messages from supporters.

In addition to being the part-time mayor, Calvo works at a nonprofit foundation that runs boarding schools. His wife is a state finance officer.

The case is the latest embarrassment for Prince George's County law enforcement. A former police officer was sentenced in May to 45 years in prison for shooting two furniture deliverymen at his home last year, one of them fatally. He claimed that they attacked him. In June, a suspect jailed in the death of a police officer was found strangled in his cell.

Calvo said he was astonished that police have not only failed to apologize, but declined to clear the couple's names.

What the fuck is going on here? What great minds concocted this warrant? The poor wife will probably have Post Traumatic Stress and be doomed to a life of bedrest, martini's and Valium, and he will become impotent..J/K...They murdered their damn dogs...Couldn't they have used a Taser? Pepper Spray? Pepper Spray works for our mailman...Why lethal force? They knew that there was a package obviously, they followed it since Arizona...they should have gathered more information before getting the warrant, didn't they notice it was their mayor's address? Lets just say this story leaves me disturbed..And they wonder why so many people are leaving urban and suburban MD and moving to the damn country....

Have a blessed day...

To fat to be executed?

AN inmate scheduled for execution in the US says he is so fat executioners would have trouble finding his veins and he might not be properly anaesthetised.

Lawyers for Richard Cooey, pictured, argue in a federal lawsuit that he had poor veins when he faced execution five years ago and that the problem has been worsened by weight gain.

They cite a document filed by a nurse in 2003 that said Cooey had sparse veins and that executioners would need extra time.

The lawsuit, filed on Friday in federal court in Columbus, Ohio, also says prison officials have had difficulty drawing blood from Cooey for medical procedures.

Cooey is 170cm tall and weighs 121kg, according to the lawsuit.

Cooey, 41, was sentenced to die for raping and murdering two students in 1986.

A federal judge granted him a last-minute reprieve in 2003. In April, he lost a challenge to Ohio's lethal injection process when the US Supreme Court said he had missed a deadline to file a lawsuit.

I do not support the death penalty. However, I don't feel his plea is going to garner much sympathy. Everyone is entitled to a humane death. I don't think, (if he did it) he was worried too much about the comfort of the two waitresses he raped and murdered. What do you think?

I love duct tape

Me and the wise one were conversing over our daily java this morning. About duct dape..yeah, we have no life.... However, do you remember whenever they think there is going to be a national disaster the powers that be instruct us to purchase mass quantities of duct tape, batteries etc...I mainly remember the duct tape. I know that it is good enough for NASA, they used it in the heavens to do some repairs and by golly the stuff worked. In personal experience, it has never failed me or my family. Yes, I am one of those geeks that own a little box with "things" in case some tragedy befalls me and the ones I love. My box has a big shiny roll of gray duct tape, batteries, some dried beef jerky, more batteries, a wind up radio, a wind up flashlight, bags of hard candy and a few more odds and ends. Behind that box is a cooler full of bottled water. Mind you I am the optimist of the family. If it was up to Kenny we would have HazMat outfits on standby. I think I could just cover my parts with duct tape.

Who is going to be our new president?

I do believe it is going to be Mr.Obama. (take me to the track sometime, I pick winners) I think this will be such a turning point for our nation. I personally want a president that cares about me and the next generations to come. There have been numerous times that I have cringed when I have seen Bush do a press conference. JMO..but he sounds like a rather uneducated redneck at times. No wonder why other countries can't stand us, and make fun of Americans. Look at our leader? I am glad he doesn't think we are in a recession. I and everyone else that I know and communicate with disagree with him, but you know what, Mr. Bush really doesn't give a rats ass about my personal economics. When he leaves office he will be wading knee deep in wealth and oil. I am ready for change, I just pray and hope that Mr. Obama has the abilities to implement those changes. I imagine he is going to have one hell of a struggle. That is what makes those of us born in the USA (or anywhere else on this planet) so special...we are not adverse to struggling or even kicking ass when needed, as long as it is for a positive purpose. So shine on Mr. Obama, be our knight on a strong horse..
