Argh!!!

I swore I wasn't going to post this weekend, but argh...he is making me crazy with his lack of patience. I am trying to help him learn Excel and also call Verizon and find out why his work order was cancelled. I finally get a tech support person on the phone and he proceeds to scream and yell at them, resulting in them hanging up. I don't think I might be the appropriate person to tutor him with Excel. 74 year old men are not the easiest to teach and combined with his temper it is almost impossible. He told me he had a brain anneurism and they had to remove part of his brain. That is the reason he is subject to fits of rage. I will buy that explanation to a point. He hates this modern world that we live in. He is not flexible and willing to bend. He is like the oak tree instead of the willow. God give me strength. He is going home tomorrow. I enjoy his company, but since his loss of employment he has become very bitter and miserable. I don't recognize the friend that I met at Denny's. I think a part of his soul died when he lost his job. Speaking of jobs I must go to mine at 2pm. I hope everyone has power and is safe and dry. Peace.

At 74 he shouldn't be having to learn new shit that doesn't involve sitting around in high worn Bermuda shorts and looking at hot babes like you kiddo!

A job to support the ego and provide meaning to ones' life is necessary but not sufficient for a life -- it is an addiction after awhile. One must also be able to live without the job, without the distraction from real life. It is very hard to come up with a life after work if work is all there was.
You tried to help but, like an addict, help must come first from the source.
Just some thoughts . . .

Maybe he came into your life to teach you a lesson about yourself? Or maybe he's just an old geezer..LOL

Loved your comment on my post. It had me picturing the Dad in flowing robes handing out paper roses at Detroit Metro.

WM- That is my point exactly. He is very well off. His ego is bruised and he is a crusty old fox. He wants the young babe and the job. I think it is the sense of purpose. I agree with you 100%.

Goatman- You are right. He is a dinosaur in a world where they don't exist. I have and do as much as I can, but it is hard to get a 74 year old lawyer employed. His specialty is securities.

Lou- I think a little of both. Glad you liked the vision of the dad I painted for you. Laughter is the best medicine of all..

Hello this is Andrew.I wanted to stop in and say thanks for the letter you sent me.I can relate to everything. Most people who have not been in our situation can't understand how complicated things can be.I am trying my hardest to be honest and stay on the right path.I hope things continue to improve in both of our lives and wish you the best.Keep your head up!

Drew- Thanks so much for stopping by and saying hi. I know how hard what you are going through is. I had two major incarcerations in my life. It changed me. I can't stand crowds of people and I value my privacy like crazy. All you can do is try,. If you screw up, just dust yourself off and get back on track. That is where I used to mess up. I would relapse and say "Oh well, I might as well go full out again". Feel free to email me anytime you want to talk, seriously. You keep your head up too...Peace.
